As mid-season All American honors roll in, the state of Mississippi can't help but notice two Golden Eagles topping the list. Nick Sandlin and Matt Wallner, arguably two of the nations top baseball players. Sandlin was named to the Perfect Game/Rawlings Midseason All-American First Team, he is the only Conference USA player on this list. Wallner is the only freshman to make it on D1Baseball.com’s Midseason All-America team.

Sandlin is 5-0 this season and has a 0.334 ERA with 40 strikeouts and three saves. In 26 1/3 innings, the star reliever has allowed just 12 hits and 11 walks. Wallner on the other hand has done more than any coach could ask of a freshman. He has blasted nine homeruns, which is good enough to lead the team as well as be 24th nationally. He’s also hitting .333 with a .667 slugging percentage with a .472 on-base percentage and 24 RBIs. Wallner, while being a star at the plate is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA and three saves. In his six appearance as a reliever Wallner has 14 strikeouts against four walks.
